{"id":4535,"date":"2020-03-13T17:34:30","date_gmt":"2020-03-14T00:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cwa9003.org\/?p=4535"},"modified":"2020-06-28T18:32:13","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T01:32:13","slug":"envoy-covid-19-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cwa9003.org\/?p=4535","title":{"rendered":"Envoy COVID-19 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/actionnetwork.org\/user_files\/user_files\/000\/013\/501\/original\/CWA_Agents_300px.png?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"CWA Passenger Services\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As the novel coronavirus\n(COVID-19) continues to affect communities across the globe, CWA leaders are\nengaging with American, Piedmont, and Envoy to ensure that they are providing CWA\nagents with comprehensive safety and prevention measures and to ensure they are\nfollowing our collective bargaining agreements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We wanted to provide you with an\nupdate on recent developments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 6, the company agreed to\nrelax the rules regarding wearing gloves as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Although the CDC does not recommend using gloves to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the company is adjusting its policy on a short-term basis to allow agents to bring and wear their own solid-colored, non-latex gloves. <\/li><li>Some important reminders: Gloves are not medically recommended because COVID-19 can be spread when someone touches a contaminated surface, with or without gloves, and then touches one\u2019s face, eyes, nose, or mouth without washing hands or using      hand sanitizer. <\/li><li>If you choose to wear gloves, remember to remove them carefully to avoid contaminating yourself and\/or clothing. <\/li><li>Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer after removing      the gloves. <\/li><li>The CDC recommends changing gloves every 30 minutes. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The company has agreed to make\nhand sanitizer readily available at every work location. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have asked management to relax\nthe attendance policy, and so far American has agreed to review requests on a\ncase-by-case basis. We are still discussing this issue with the other airlines.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To date, there has been no\nreference to a possible furlough during our regular discussions with\nmanagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company is using Jetnet as\nits primary method of communication with employees about what is a very fluid\nsituation, so be sure to check Jetnet regularly for the latest updates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime, CWA&#8217;s Health and\nSafety Department has established a process for members to report any incidents\nof exposure or infection. If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 or\nare experiencing symptoms consistent with infection, contact your healthcare\nprovider immediately and notify your supervisor.
